Help & how-to
Everything you can do in skeddi, written so you can learn without asking.
Post a help slot
From the teacher dashboard, click New slot. The composer opens in the middle of the screen.
- Type a title(e.g. “Algebra II office hours”) — students see this in their calendar.
- Pick a date and the start/end times. The picker scrolls; pick any hour and any 5-minute step.
- Optionally set a location and room.
- Optionally cap signups with a signup cap (1–200 students).
- Leave First come, first servedon if you want the roster numbered in signup order. Turn it off if order doesn’t matter.
- Pick a recurrence if you want weekly / biweekly / monthly copies, then a until date.
- Click Create slot.
Save and reuse a template
Templates let you save a slot’s details once and reuse them when posting irregular times.
To save
- Open the slot composer.
- Fill in title, location, room, cap, and FCFS.
- Click Save as template at the top of the dialog.
- Name it (e.g. “Algebra II”) and click Save.
To use
- Open the slot composer.
- Pick a saved template from the Start from a template dropdown — every field except date/time prefills.
- Set the date/time and click Create slot.
To delete
Click the trash chip with the template’s name under the template strip. Confirms once.
Read the calendar
The calendar shows a day timeline on the left and a mini month on the right. Click any day in the mini month to switch.
- The timeline scrolls — drag or use the wheel to see earlier or later hours. It auto-scrolls to the earliest slot of the day.
- Each block is color-coded by capacity: green = open, amber = getting full, red = full.
- Click a block to open the detail rail. Click the same block again to close it.
- On the detail rail you’ll see the roster. If FCFS is on for that slot, students appear with their signup order (#1, #2…).
Sign up for a slot
Open the calendar, click a slot you want help in, and press Sign up on the right.
To cancel, click the same slot and press Cancel signup. You can’t cancel past slots.
If a slot is full, the button reads Slot full and is disabled. Watch for a notification if a seat opens up.
Mark attendance
Go to Attendance from the bottom tab or the icon rail. The page shows your slots from the last 30 days plus the next 14 days.
- The Active tab shows today and the next few days — slots become markable when they start (live clock at top).
- Mark each student P (present), L (late), A (absent), or E (excused). Tap again to clear.
- Mark all present bulk-fills the roster.
- Tap Print / save PDF in the header to save the roster as a paper backup.
- The History tab shows everything older.
Send a quick update to signed-up students
Use this for “running 5 min late” or “moved to room 207 today” — anything you’d normally text a class.
- Open the slot from the calendar.
- On the detail rail, click Notify signups.
- Type up to 280 characters and Send.
Every signed-up student receives the message in their notifications immediately. Students who aren’t signed up don’t see it.
Connect Google Calendar
Connecting Google Calendar pushes every slot you create into your Google calendar automatically, along with current signup counts.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Google Calendar click Connect.
- Sign in with the Google account you want to sync.
- Grant the calendar.events scope when prompted. We never read anything other than the events skeddi pushed.
Once connected:
- New slots push to your Google Calendar within a second.
- Edits and deletions sync both ways from skeddi.
- Click Sync now to backfill historical slots.
- Click Disconnect to revoke access — it removes every slot skeddi pushed before unhooking.
Quick navigation (⌘K)
Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl K (Windows/Linux) anywhere in the app to jump to a page without using the sidebar.
- Type to filter — Dashboard, Calendar, Attendance, Alerts, Settings, Teachers.
- Arrow keys to navigate, Enter to follow.
- Escape to close.
Read and manage notifications
Click Alerts from the bottom tab or icon rail. The bell badge shows your unread count.
- Teachers get notified when a student signs up or cancels.
- Students get notified when a teacher posts a new slot, updates an existing one, or cancels.
- Click a notification to mark it read, or use Mark all read.
- Tune your notification preferences in Settings.
Delete your account
Go to Settings. At the bottom of the page, click Account management to expand the drawer, then Delete account.
You’ll be asked to type a confirmation code exactly. Once confirmed, every record skeddi has about you — profile, slots, signups, follows, notifications, device tokens — is permanently deleted. This cannot be undone.
